Course Summary
In this course, attorney Mark B. Houts gets vulnerable and shares his own shortcomings on the issue of civility. Houts discusses experiences early in his career that shaped his notions of civility, including an inside view of a sanctions order against the senior partner at his law firm. This course dives into cases in various jurisdictions wherein attorneys were penalized for incivility. Practitioners will leave this session with a clear understanding of what behavior constitutes incivility, how to engage with misbehaving lawyers, how to recognize our own urges to misbehave, and positive outcomes when civility wins the day.
Mark Houts
Mark B. Houts has been litigating in Oklahoma since 2006. He began his career in insurance defense. In recent years, he has handled many civil-litigation matters including personal injury, property damage, title disputes, contract disputes, and business disputes.
